Fürth is located in the administrative region of Middle Franconia in Bavaria and has a population of around 120,000. The eastern end of the city has more or less merged with neighboring Nuremberg, whose center is only seven kilometers away from the center of Fürth. The city is well known for its historical buildings and monuments, of which there are said to be more than 2,000. Fürth’s picturesque Old Town with its timber frame and brownstone houses is popular not only among locals but also among the numerous tourists who visit the city. Another interesting fact about Fürth is that Germany’s first railroad line began operating between Nuremberg and Fürth on December 7, 1835.
